Birmingham Inspection Services was established in 1994 by Jack Clifford. Mr. Clifford, a Florida certified class ‘A’ general contractor since 1973, had been building homes in Naples, Florida for 16 years after working in construction trades as a carpenter, tile setter and mason as well as a construction superintendent. His decision to make a career change came after seeing the growing need for competent home inspectors. After researching the market, plus a desire to move to a more northern climate, he saw that there were relatively few home inspectors in the Greater Birmingham area, and made the decision to establish his business here.

Mike Yielding joined Birmingham Inspection Services in 2001. Since his apprenticeship with Jack, Mike has performed over twenty-five hundred fee paid residential and commercial inspections for Birmingham Inspection Services. In the early 1970’s, Mr. Yielding worked as a carpenter on various apartment projects during the apartment construction boom in the south side of Birmingham. He also worked as a carpenter and journeyman plumber in residential home construction in Gulf Shores and Florence Alabama. Mr. Clifford and Mr. Yielding are both licensed by the State of Alabama Building Commission and carry general liability and errors and omissions insurance as required by state law.

Incorporating their knowledge of home building has made Birmingham Inspection Services one of the most highly regarded and successful home inspection companies in Alabama. Every new inspector is required to train with Mr. Clifford for a minimum of twelve weeks to insure that the new inspector follows the high standards and expertise required by Birmingham Inspection Services. Continuing education courses are taken annually to insure the newest and the best inspection methods are incorporated into every inspection. We serve not only Jefferson County, but also Shelby, St. Clair, Blount, Talladega, Walker and Etowah Counties as well.
